Chippewas Draft Teams for 2012 Spring Game

MOUNT PLEASANT - The squads have been set for Saturday's spring football game.
On Wednesday, Central Michigan drafted the rosters that will face off at Kelly/Shorts Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The seniors were divided between the two teams, then drafted their teammates by position.
The draft's No. 1 overall pick, by the Gold team, was redshirt freshman offensive lineman Nick Beamish.
After the offensive linemen were selected, the Maroon team opened the wide receiver position by drafting junior Jordan McConnell.
The remaining top picks by position were sophomore Austin White (running back), sophomore Leterrius Walton (defensive line), junior Shamari Benton (linebacker), junior Avery Cunningham (defensive back), redshirt freshman Alex Niznak (quarterback) and sophomore Caleb Southworth (tight end).
CMU's spring game kicks off at 2 p.m. Saturday at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. The Chippewas will begin signing autographs at the Indoor Athletic Complex at 10:30 a.m., then will host a free kids clinic at 11:30 a.m.
