
Chippewas 1-2 at EMU Duals

YPSILANTI, Mich. - The Central Michigan wrestling team finished 1-2 Saturday in the Eastern Michigan Duals.
Central started the day falling to Edinboro, 30-3. The Fighting Scots are ranked 14th in the USA Today/National Wrestling Coaches Association poll.
The Chippewas then defeated Clarion, 34-6, before falling to 18th-ranked Northwestern, 25-12. The Wildcats are one of nine Big 10 teams ranked in the top 25.
Four Chippewas -- senior Tyler Keselring (133 pounds), sophomore Jordan Wohlfort (165), freshman Jordan Ellingwood (174) and junior Jackson Lewis (184) -- finished 2-1 on the day.
Three CMU wrestlers - Brent Fleetwood (125), Zach Horan (141) and Collin Heffernan (149) - each finished 1-2, while and Malcolm Martin (157) went 1-1.
Keselring took a 16-0 technical fall over Matt Ligget of Clarion, and defeated Dominick Malone of Northwestern, 4-3.
Wohlfert defeated Casey Fuller, 5-2, for CMU's lone victory against Edinboro. He also topped Slade Horner of Clarion, 12-5.
Ellingwood beat Clarion's Michael Pavasko on a 19-6 major decision, then won by forfeit over Northwestern.
Lewis' wins came over Dan Sutherland of Clarion, 5-1, and Mitch Sliga of Northwestern, 3-1.
The Chippewas had two pins on the day, one from Fleetwood, the other from Heffernan.
Fleetwood pinned Seth Carr of Clarion in 2 minutes, 25 seconds, , while Heffernan pinned Sam Sherlock of Clarion at 2:56.
Horan's victory came over John Pezze of Clarion, 12-3.
Martin's win came over Evan Delong of Clarion, 9-3.
Also for CMU, Austin Severn (197) and Newton Smercheck (285) finished 0-3 for the tournament, while Luke Smith (157) was 0-1.
Central Michigan is scheduled to host 16th-ranked Iowa State on Thursday, Nov. 20, in its home opener at McGuirk Arena.
The Chippewas then entertain eighth-ranked Michigan on Tuesday, Nov. 25.
