
Kelto 84th in NCAA Championships

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Central Michigan distance runner Abbey Kelto finished 84th out of 255 competitors in the NCAA Championships at the LaVern Gibson Cross Country Course Saturday.
Kelto, a senior transfer from Michigan State, is just the second woman in CMU cross country history to qualify for the NCAA Championships. Suzy Somers was the first to accomplish the feat in 1989.
Kelto finished the 6K event with a time of 21 minutes, 6 seconds and averaged a 2K split time of 7:11.
From 2K to finish, Kelto moved up 73 spots in the standings. Her biggest jump came between the 2K and 4K marks where she improved 50 spots.
Iona junior Kate Avery won the event with a time of 19:31.
Michigan State won the team title with 85 points.
