Ghena, Kelto Lead CMU in Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Nate Ghena finished 37th in the men's race and Abbey Kelto was 52nd in the women's race Saturday in leading the Central Michigan cross country teams at the 29th annual Roy Griak Invitational, hosted by Minnesota.
Ghena, a junior, finished in 25 minutes, 43.8 seconds in the 8K men's race. Nate Jewkes of Southern Utah was first in 24:45.4.
Southern Utah won the men's team title with 142 points. The Chippewas (513) finished 19th in the 31-team field.
Also for the CMU men, Silas Dekalita placed 82nd in 26:18.6, Ethan Lievense was 92nd in 26:22.8, Ben Wynsma was 156th in 27:05.9, Spencer Nousain was 190th in 27:32.4, Tanner Pesonen was 194th in 27:35.9, and Monte Scott finished 200th in 27:43.6. The men's race comprised 301 runners.
Kelto came in at 22:24.6 in the women's race, a 6K, as CMU finished 31st in the team standings. Michigan State was first with 66 points in the 36-team women's event.
Also for CMU, Breanne Lesner was 113th (23:11.7), Esther Bell placed 249th (24:35.4), Alyssa Byndas was 293rd (25:07.0), Michaela Bundy was 294th (25:07.8), Jamie Madrigal finished 318th (25:40.7) and Hannah Davis was 326th (26:04.8).
Shelby Houlihan of Arizona State won the women's race in 20:34.5.
