MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- With school starting to pick up and the schedule continuing to advance, the Central Michigan women's soccer team targets its next challengers.
From a slow start to their season coach Peter McGahey and the Chippewas have their eyes locked on the Oakland Grizzles.
On Friday, Sept. 5, the Chippewas host the Oakland Grizzles (1-4) in their first home match of the year. Shortly followed by a trip to Ann Arbor on Sunday, Sept. 7, where they will match up against the Michigan Wolverines (2-2).

When asked how the women were preparing for such big games this weekend, McGahey replied "Oakland comes before Michigan, we'll get to Michigan on Saturday, but Oakland is our focus."
Trying to avoid overloading his student-athletes, McGahey said he plans to keep the Chippewas relaxed by taking one game at a time.
With keep the athletes relaxed, McGahey is looking forward to the home opener this Friday. McGahey said he feels that "It's a little bit more relaxing to be at home."
With all the stresses and responsibilities student-athletes have, McGahey said he is comforted know his Chippewas will be able to sleep in their own beds and be well-rested for the match this Friday.
Having home field advantage, McGahey said that this gives them an edge. Knowing their home field and being more comfortable allows them to exploit more of their strengths.
"One of the strengths that we have is certainly the speed on the flanks" McGahey replies.
Being able to control the flow of the match is crucial. Playing to their advantages with the home crowd should make for an exciting game.
