MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Central Michigan women's basketball coach Sue Guevara has announced the signing of MacKenna Kelly to a National Letter of Intent.
Kelly, a 5-foot-10 guard from Frankfort in Northern Michigan, is the lone signee in the Class of 2016.
"She fits into the style of play we have because she's a very versatile guard," Guevara said. "She can shoot the three and get to the basket. Just a great work ethic.
"She's one of those rare kids who didn't play AAU, but came to elite camp and showed what she can do and her dream was always to come to Central Michigan. You don't hear about that very often, especially for someone who didn't play AAU.
"She's got a tremendous work ethic and a great passion for the game."
Kelly is a two-time first team All-Stater and led Frankfort to the Class D state semifinals last season.
She averaged 17.1 points and 7.2 rebounds per game a year ago, when she made 38 percent of her 3-point attempts.
She has also earned first team All-State honors in softball and All-State honorable mention in volleyball during her career at Frankfort.
