Nine CMU Soccer Student-Athletes Earn Academic Honors

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Nine Central Michigan student-athletes were named to the 2015 Academic All-Mid-American Conference soccer team.
Those CMU student-athletes named to the squad, listed with year, grade point average, and major: Christen Chiesa, junior, 4.00, exercise science; Kaylin Hoomaian, junior, 3.98, exercise science; Jordan Young, junior, 3.91, biology; Eliza Van de Kerkhove, junior, 3.89, recreation; Savannah Beetcher, sophomore, 3.75, undecided; McKay Matheson, sophomore, 3.73, mechanical engineering; Kaelyn Korte, senior, 3.67, photojournalism; Samantha Maher, junior, 3.47, psychology; Lauren Sherry, sophomore, 3.27, undecided.
It is the second-consecutive year that Chiesa, Hoomaian, Young, Van de Kerkhove, Korte and Maher have earned league academic honors.
To be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.2 grade point average or better and appear in at least 50 percent of her team's games. Freshman and first-year transfers are ineligible.
