
Chippewas Win Two-Straight, Top Rider 76-58

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Four Chippewas finished in double figures as Central Michigan grinded past Rider in a 76-58 women's basketball victory in CMU's first game of the Hawk Classic on Monday.
The Chippewas (6-4) will play in the championship game against host Saint Joseph's Tuesday at 3 p.m. St. Joseph's rolled past Maryland-Baltimore County, 104-45, in Monday's other tournament semifinal. Rider is 3-7.
Senior Da'Jourie Turner led the Chippewas with a season-high 20 points, shooting 7-of-12 from the floor and a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line.
Presley Hudson added 16 points while dishing out six assists. Hudson went 4-of-11 from the floor and 6-for-6 from the charity stripe. The freshman has scored in double figures 9-of-10 games this season.
Aleah Swary recorded her first career double-double adding 13 points and 10 rebounds. Jewel Cotton added 10 points for CMU.
The Chippewas led for 37:50 of the game, while the Broncs' only advantage of the game came at the 7:47 mark of the first quarter, which only lasted nine seconds.
After the first 20 minutes, Central Michigan led 44-29 at the half.
CMU won the battle down low, out-rebounding Rider 40-37, and outscoring the Broncs in the paint, 34-20.
