Keener Earns Weekly MAC Honor

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Central Michigan 133-pounder Corey Keener was named the Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week after posting a pair of dominating victories last week.

Keener scored an 11-3 major decision over Austin Eicher of Northern Illinois on Thursday, then on Sunday scored a 21-6 technical fall over Michigan State's Patrick Bloomer, upping his season record to 6-2.

The Chippewas, who are ranked 21st, defeated the Huskies, 39-3, and the Spartans, 33-0, to improve to 4-0 in duals.

Keener, a junior from Schuylkill Haven, Pa., is ranked third in the MAC at 133.

Central Michigan returns to action at the Reno Tournament of Champions on Sunday, Dec. 20.
