MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Central Michigan's Abbey Kelto earned All-Academic honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Kelto, a senior from Munising, is an Exercise Science major who qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships in November. She is just the second female runner in CMU history to accomplish the feat.
In order to qualify for academic honors, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and finish in the top 25 at the NCAA regional, or achieve All-America status at the National Championships.
Kelto finished 84th at the NCAA Championships. She is one of 153 women in Division I to earn All-Academic honors.
In addition, both CMU men's and women's teams earned All-Academic Team honors from the USTFCCCA for recording a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above.
The Chippewa women's team's cumulative GPA is 3.59, while the men's is 3.31.
