CMU Baseball Road Trip Continues at Kansas

LAWRENCE, Kan. - After winning its third series of the season over the weekend, the Central Michigan baseball team will continue its spring break road trip today, Tuesday, at Kansas in the Jayhawks' Hoglund Ballpark.
The Chippewas are 10-5 after taking two of three last weekend from Wichita State. CMU has won three of the four series is has played this year, and split the fourth.
Junior left-hander Adam Aldred will start for the Chippewas. He has yet to record a decision in three starts. Opposing hitters are batting .328 against Aldred, who maintains a 5.87 earned run average in 15.1 innings. Hayden Edwards, a 6-foot-8 junior right-hander, will start for Kansas. Edwards is 1-2 with a 6.35 ERA.
CMU hit two homers Sunday in a 10-5 loss to Wichita State, tripling its number of round-trippers this season. Daniel Jipping, a freshman, and junior Joe Houlihan each homered, bringing the Chippewas' season total to three.
Logan Regnier and Pat MacKenzie, who are hitting .316 and .315, respectively, are leading the Chippewas at the plate. Regnier has collected four triples, which leads the nation, and has stolen eight bases in 10 attempts, which ranks him in the top 20 nationally.
CMU closer Tim Black is collected six saves, which ranks among the top 15 nationally.
Tuesday's game will begin at 4 p.m. Kansas is 6-10, including 1-2 at home. This marks the first meeting between CMU and Kansas since 1986. It is CMU's first visit to Hoglund Ballpark.
Following Tuesday's game, CMU will travel to Indiana to partake in the four-game Indiana State Invitational. Indiana State (4-6), Rutgers (1-9) and Canisius (5-8) round out the field.
The Chippewas will face Indiana State on Thursday at 3 p.m.; Rutgers on Friday at noon; Canisius on Saturday at 3 p.m.; and Rutgers on Sunday at noon.
