Heffernan Earns Weekly MAC Award

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan's Colin Heffernan was named the Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week for his performance in the Chippewas' dual-meet victory over Virginia on Sunday.

Heffernan, a junior from Cleveland, recorded 8-6 victory at 157 pounds over Andrew Atkinson, a key turning point in the Chippewas' 22-10 win.

Heffernan recorded four takedowns in his win, improving to 6-0 on the season. He entered the match ranked 12th by InterMat, while Atkinson, a junior, came into the match 5-1 and ranked 20th.

The Chippewas are scheduled to partake in the Michigan State Open on Sunday, Nov. 20.
