
Chippewa Win Streaks Ends at Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The Central Michigan women's basketball team saw its five-game winning streak come to an end Tuesday as it fell in a nonconference game at Purdue, 62-51, at the Boilermakers' Mackey Arena.
The Chippewas fall to 6-3 with the loss. Purdue moves to 6-4.
After trailing by 16 points with three minutes left the third quarter, CMU battled back in the fourth to pull within one, 48-47, with 6 minutes, 30 seconds remaining.
Central Michigan failed to sustain their momentum scoring just two points in final four minutes allowing Purdue to pull away.
The Chippewas finished that game shooting at just a 30.3 percent from the field and 26.3 percent on 3-point attempts. The Boilermakers finished at 39 percent and 20 percent, respectively.
CMU was overmatched on the glass as Purdue held a 52-33 rebounding advantage.
Sophomore guard Presley Hudson and junior forward Tinara Moore led CMU, each finishing with 12 points. Senior forward Jewel Cotton added 11.
Moore, along with sophomore forward Reyna Frost, led the Chippewas on boards tallying seven rebounds each.
Dominique Oden led Purdue with 17 points. Bridget Perry led the Boilermakers with nine rebounds.
The Chippewas will return to the court on Friday as they play host to Saint Joseph's (2-5) in a nonconference game at 7 p.m. inside McGuirk Arena.
