MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan's Justin Oliver was named to the Amateur Wrestling News 2016 All-Rookie Team.
Oliver, a freshman who wrestles at 149 pounds, earned All-America honors by placing seventh in March at the NCAA Championships at Madison Square Garden in New York.
He was the only freshman All-American in his weight class.
Oliver, who hails from Davison, started the 2015-16 season behind incumbent Colin Heffernan. An injury to Heffernan opened the door for Oliver, who went on to post a 32-7 record with four pins.
Oliver finished second in the MAC Championships and was seeded ninth for the NCAA. He earned the Chick Sherwood Award as CMU's outstanding wrestler, and he captured the team Most Takedowns and the Most Team Points awards.
AWN selects three wrestlers per weight class for its All-Rookie Team.
