MUNCIE, Ind. - The Central Michigan women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 Mid-American Conference decision to Ball State on Sunday at the BSU Soccer Field.
The Chippewas slipped to 6-7-3, 1-5-2 MAC. They finished the weekend with two losses, beginning with their 2-1 overtime loss to Miami (Ohio) on Friday. Ball State is 8-6-2, 6-1-1 MAC.
A high-pressure Ball State finished with 13 shots to CMU's four. The Cardinals finished with an 11-2 edge in corner kicks.
Peighton Cook headed in the Cardinals' goal off of a corner kick by Paula Guerrero just over 26 minutes into the second half.
"The reality is there's no easy games in the MAC," CMU coach Peter McGahey said. "The challenge is when you give away goals on set pieces, it makes life hard. Hats off to quality opponents in this conference."
Zoie Reed recorded five saves going the distance in goal for CMU, while Tristin Stuteville had one save for Ball State.
Madison Costner tallied two shots, one of which was on goal for CMU. Marle Bringard and Natalie Belsito also had one shot apiece.
Sam Kambol and Amanda Shaw each added two shots for Ball State.
Central Michigan is scheduled to entertain Northern Illinois (7-6-1, 4-3-0) on Thursday (6 p.m.) and Western Michigan (8-5-1, 3-3-1) on Sunday (1 p.m.). Both are MAC contests.
"It'll be nice being back and having those final three games at home," McGahey said. "They're must-wins and it'll be good to be back in front of a home crowd."
