SETTING THE SCENE
The Central Michigan men's basketball team will play at Michigan in a nonconference game on Monday, Nov. 13, at the Wolverines' Crisler Arena.
LAST TIME OUT
The Chippewas rolled past NAIA Siena Heights, 108-48, in their season-opening game on Friday at McGuirk Arena.
Kevin McKay scored 22 points and Cecil Williams had 21 and 11 rebounds to lead the Chippewas past the Saints.
The point totals were both career highs for McKay and Williams, and it as Williams' second-career double-double. McKay also had nine rebounds.
McKay, a 6-foot-5 sophomore, and Williams, a 6-6 senior, finished a combined 18-for-27 from the field.
Monday's game is the 25th between the Chippewas and Wolverines. U-M leads the series, 21-3.
ROUNDTREE IMPRESSES
While McKay and Williams garnered much of the attention after the victory over Siena Heights, junior Shawn Roundtree impressed many in attendance, including coach Keno Davis.
It was the first game in a CMU uniform for Roundtree, a transfer from Mineral Area College in Missouri. The 6-foot point guard finished with 12 points, three assists, three rebounds and three steals. He made five of his seven field goal attempts while logging 20 minutes.
"He hasn't had many reps coming off some injuries early in the fall, and yet he's looking more and more comfortable out there," Davis said. "He looks like a true point guard. When he's on the court our team plays better, so I think that's what you want from all your players, but especially your point guard."
SCOUTING
The Wolverines opened with an 86-66 victory over North Florida on Saturday at Crisler Arena. Duncan Robinson scored 22 points and Charles Matthews added 21 for U-M.
The Wolverines won the Big Ten Tournament last season, reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament, and finished 26-12.
Michigan was picked to finish fifth in the Big Ten in the preseason poll.
NEXT
The Chippewas return to McGuirk Arena on Saturday, Nov. 18 (1 p.m.) to play Eureka College, a Division III school located in central Illinois. It is the first meeting ever between CMU and Eureka.
