SETTING THE SCENE
The Central Michigan men's basketball team will entertain Tennessee Tech in a nonconference game on Saturday (1 p.m.) at McGuirk Arena.
THE STREAK
The Chippewas' lone loss came nearly four weeks ago at Michigan, 72-65. They have since won six consecutive games, the last of which was a 75-48 victory over Montana State on Tuesday at McGuirk. Kevin McKay scored 17 points to lead four Chippewa double-figure scorers in the game.
DEFENSE
The 48 points scored by Montana State was the lowest point total by a CMU opponent since the Chippewas held Arkansas Pine Bluff to 43 on Nov. 23, 2014, a stretch of 100 games.
CMU, which surrendered 87.7 points per game last season, is allowing 60.5 per this season, a difference of 27.2 points per game. The Chippewas are ranked 11th nationally in points per game allowed.
BALANCE
Junior guard Shawn Roundtree leads the Chippewas in scoring at 14.4 points per game. Six CMU players are averaging 8.6 points or more per game.
SCOUTING
Tennesse Tech (7-3) has lost back-to-back games after a six-game win streak. Saturday's game marks the third straight on the road for the Golden Eagles. They lost at Furman, 64-50, last Saturday and on Wednesday dropped a 79-66 decision at Dayton.
Curtis Phillips and Aleksa Jugovic are Tech's leading scorers at 13.9 and 13.8 points per game, respectively. Kajon Mack averages 12.9, and Shaw Calhoun averages 9.9.
Courtney Alexander is Tech's leading rebounder at 9.7 per game.
LAST YEAR
The Chippewas defeated Tennessee Tech, 86-74, last season in Cookeville, Tenn. It was the first meeting between the two schools.
NEXT
The Chippewas hit the road next week for games at Southern Utah (Saturday, Dec. 16) and at Missouri-Kansas City (Tuesday, Dec. 19).
