• The CMU women's soccer team plays host to Robert Morris on Friday in its home opener.
• The Chippewas opened the season last weekend by finishing 0-1-1 in the Rock Chalk Invitational in Kansas. CMU tied Tulsa, 1-1, in its opener, then fell to the host Jayhawks, 3-0.
• Madison Costner scored the Chippewas' goal against Tulsa, with an assist from freshman Sarah Mitchell. CMU keeper Zoie Reed made a combined 16 saves in the two games.
• Both games were played with temperatures well into the 90s.
• Robert Morris dropped 2-0 decision to Ohio and to Milwaukee to open the season.
• The Chippewas downed the Colonials, 3-1, on the road last season as part of its undefeated run through its non-conference schedule.
• CMU concludes the weekend with a non-conference game at Oakland (0-2-0) on Sunday (1 p.m.). The Golden Grizzlies, who have lost to Bowling Green, 5-1; and to Western Michigan, 3-1; play at Duquesne on Friday.
• CMU coach Peter McGahey: "It's exciting to come home. We'll be excited to play in front of our fans and it'll probably be 30 degrees cooler than what we played in last weekend. You'll have a hungry Robert Morris team and I think we'll be looking to put out a positive performance on Friday."
• The Chippewas go next weekend to the Marquette Invitational, where they will play the host Golden Eagles on Friday, Sept. 1, and then Loyola (Chicago) on Sunday, Sept. 3.
