MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- The Central Michigan field hockey team got the 2017 season underway on Wednesday with its first official practice.

• The team returns six seniors, each of whom has starting experience under their belt to lead the Chippewas.

• After wrapping up the first practice, third-year coach Molly Pelowski is excited for the possibilities that this team can showcase this season.

• The Chippewas have a lot they want to prove to themselves in regard to coming together as a team and their competitiveness that they have been working on since January.

• The Chippewas will have the ability to show what they have been working on when they open the season on Aug. 25 against Saint Francis in Loretto, Pa. Their first home game is scheduled for Sept. 10 against Saint Louis.
