The Central Michigan soccer team will play host to two Mid-American Conference opponents this weekend, beginning on Friday (6 p.m.) with Akron and concluding on Sunday (noon) with Buffalo.
LAST WEEK
The Chippewas opened MAC play with losses at Kent State, 2-1; and at Ohio, 3-0. CMU is 5-4-1, 0-2.
LEADERS
Junior Lexi Pelafas leads CMU in points with 15 (seven goals, one assist). She ranks second in the MAC in goals, goals per game, points and points per game. She leads the league in shots with 51 and shots per game, 5.67.
MILESTONE
Pelafas scored her program-record 27th career goal against Kent State on Friday.
MORE NUMBERS
Chippewa goalkeeper Zoie Reed ranks fourth in the MAC with 45 saves.
SCOUTING
• Akron is 1-8-1, 0-2 MAC. The Zips fell to Northern Illinois, 2-1, and to Western Michigan, 2-0, on their league-opening weekend. Akron has lost eight consecutive games.
• Ashley Amato leads Akron in points with four (two goals).
• Buffalo (3-5-1, 1-1 MAC) split a pair of conference games last weekend, topping Western Michigan, 2-0; and then falling to Northern Illinois, 2-0.
• Carissima Cutrona leads the Bulls with 11 points (four goals, three assists).
NEXT
The Chippewas play host to Toledo on Thursday, Oct. 5, and then goes to Bowling Green on Sunday, Oct. 8. Both are MAC games.
