Soccer Entertains Detroit Mercy On Sunday

SETTING THE SCENE
The Central Michigan soccer team will play host to Detroit Mercy on Sunday (1 p.m.) at the CMU Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium.
WHERE THEY STAND
CMU is 3-2-1 after splitting its games at the Marquette Invitational last weekend. The Chippewas dropped their first game to Marquette, 1-0, on Friday, then bounced back with an overtime win over Loyola, 2-1.
The Chippewas have won three of their last four starts. Two of those wins have come in overtime. CMU went 3-1-3 in overtime games last season.
Detroit Mercy is 2-4-1. The Titans have lost their last four starts.
LEADERS
Junior Madison Costner leads Central Michigan with nine points (four goals, one assist). She ranks second among MAC players in both goals and points.
Chippewa goalkeeper Zoie Reed has tallied a league-high 34 saves on the season.
Rachel Russo leads Detroit Mercy in goals with four.

The Chippewas are scheduled to host Mount St. Mary's - coached by former CMU assistant Joe Nemzer -- on Saturday, Sept. 16, in their final non-conference game.
Mount St. Mary's is 3-4 heading into a game on Sunday against VMI.
