Distance runners, throwers highlight incoming class
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—Central Michigan Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Jenny Sweiton has announced the signing of seven athletes who will join the program in 2019-20.
The class of incoming Chippewas includes Aliyah Boeve of Zeeland; Emma Fountain of Ludington; Austin Clay of Van Wert, Ohio; Maddy Boyd of Alpena; Lauren MacDonald of Mount Pleasant along with Lauren and Megan Lasceski of St. Johns.
Boyd and McDonald along with sisters Lauren and Megan Lasceski are expected compete as distance runners for the Chippewas. Fountain projects at mid-distance events while Boeve and Clay, both throwers, will look contribute in the field.
"I am really excited about the recruiting class so far," said Sweiton. "They are all great in the classroom and on the (track/course) but most importantly, they're all high-character kids and will be great teammates."

Three-year letterwinner … finished All-State in the discus (3rd) in both her sophomore and junior seasons and was also All-State in shot put (2nd) in 2018 … regional champ in both the discus and shot put her sophomore year … regional champ in the discus and runner up in the shot put during her junior season … also earned two letters in volleyball.

A four-year letterwinner in track and two-year letterwinner in cross country … MHSAA Division II State Champion in the 400 meter dash in 2018 … finished All-State in the 4x800 meter relay in 2017 and 2018 … regional champion in the 400 & 200 meter dash in 2018 … regional champ in the 4x400 meter relay in 2017 and 2018 … named Lake Eight First Team All-Conference her freshman, sophomore and junior year … holds the Ludington school record in the 400 meter dash, 200 meter dash and 4x800 meter relay … served as team captain during her junior season.

Four-year letterwinner in both track and cross country … MHSAA All-State (track) in the 1600m in 2018 … All-Region and State Qualifier (cross country) in 2017 and 2018 … a three-time All-Big North Conference selection in cross country a two-time selection in track … All-Region (Track) in the 1600m in 2016, 2017 and 2018 and was All-Region in the 3200m in 2018… named team captain for her senior season … holds the school record in the 1600m and 5K.

A four-year letter winner in cross country and a three-year letter winner in track … part of four MHSAA Division 4 Team State Championship (2015-18) in cross country … four-time individual All-State in cross country (2015-18) … individual runner-up at 2018 Cross Country regionals … a First-Team All-MSAC in cross country (2015-18) … finished All-State in track in the 1 mile and the 3200m relay … also lettered in basketball and softball.
