Chippewas Finish Road Stretch at Youngstown State

CMU will seek its seventh non-conference win on Tuesday (7 p.m.)
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - The Central Michigan men's basketball team will aim to place itself in the win column for the seventh time this season when it meets Youngstown State Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Penguins' Beeghly Center.
The Chippewas, currently 6-2, will face the 3-6 Penguins to conclude their three-game road trip. CMU fell to TCU, 89-62, Friday in Fort Worth, while YSU has dropped four of its last five games, including a 106-72 loss at West Virginia in its previous outing on Dec. 1.
CMU leads the all-time series 5-2 over the Penguins. The Chippewas knocked off YSU 75-63Â when the teams last faced off on Nov. 18, 2014, in Mount Pleasant.
STAT LEADERS
Senior Larry Austin Jr. leads CMU in scoring (19.0 points per game), which ranks tied for second in the Mid-American Conference. He has scored in double figures in each of his first eight games as a Chippewa.
Junior Kevin McKay is averaging 17.3 points per game and a team-high 6.5 rebounds per contest. Senior Shawn Roundtree Jr. scores 14.0 points per game and owns a team-high 77.5 free throw percentage (minimum 10 attempts).
STEALS LEADERS
Central Michigan leads the MAC and ranks 10th in the NCAA in steals, averaging 9.6 per game. Three Chippewas appear in the MAC individual steals rankings: Larry Austin Jr. (2.1, No. 2), Kevin McKay (2.0, No. 3) and Shawn Roundtree Jr. (1.6, No. 8).
SCOUTING YSU
Led by second-year head coach Jerrod Calhoun, Youngstown State features two players averaging in double figures in scoring. Garrett Covington, who posted 20 points against West Virginia, leads the team with 11.3 points per contest while Kendale Hampton scores 10.9. Naz Bohannon averages a team-best 8.8 rebounds per game.
YSU averages 78.7 points per game and allows 83.3 per game, with opponents shooting 46.8 percent from the floor and 32.6 percent from 3-point range. The Penguins are out-rebounding teams 41.8 to 37.4 a game but commit nearly 16 turnovers per contest.
