
CMU Men Headed to Liberty for CIT Quarterfinal Contest

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - The Central Michigan men's basketball team will travel to face Liberty in quarterfinal action of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament on Saturday, March 24.
Tip time is set for 2 p.m. at the Flames' Vines Center in Lynchburg, Va. The game will be streamed by CBS Digital.
The Chippewas advanced with a 98-94 second round victory over Wofford on Friday in Spartanburg, S.C. on the strength of 17 3-pointers and perfect shooting from the free throw line (15-of-15). David DiLeo scored 22 points, Kevin McKay had 21 points, eight rebounds and six assists and Josh Kozinski posted 18 points to lead the Chippewas.
Liberty (21-14) opened CIT play with a 65-52 home win over North Carolina A&T on March 12.
The Flames finished fifth in the Big South Conference regular season standings with a 9-9 record. After upsetting No. 1 seed UNC Asheville in the Big South Tournament semifinals, they fell to No. 2 seed Radford, 55-52, in the championship game. Liberty is ranked No. 5 in the NCAA in free throw shooting (79.1%) and No. 9 in scoring defense (63.3 ppg). Redshirt sophomore forward Scottie James is the team's leading scorer, averaging 13.4 points per game.
Liberty is making its third appearance in CIT, advancing to the quarterfinals each year. Liberty has a 4-2 overall record in the CIT, with all of its wins coming at home.
CMU is making its third appearance in four seasons in a postseason tournament. The Chippewas have never faced Liberty in the history of the program.
Tickets can be purchased online. Adult general admission tickets are $10, groups (10 or more) are $5 and youth general admission (ages 3-18) is $5.
