Brettell Earns MAC Honor

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan's Michael Brettell was named the co-Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Week.

Brettell, a junior right-hander from Fonthill, Ont., tossed a complete game, the first of his career and the second of the season by a MAC pitcher, in game two of a doubleheader at Northern Illinois on Friday.

He struck out six, walked three and surrendered five hits in an 8-1 victory. Brettell is 2-3 on the season.

The Chippewas have won five of their last six games and are 7-16-1 (2-1 MAC). CMU plays at Michigan on Wednesday in a nonconference game, and then opens a three-game league series at Ball State on Friday.
