Chippewas Head To MAC Championships

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Central Michigan men's and women's track and field teams will find out how they stack up with the best that the Mid-American Conference has to offer beginning on Thursday at the MAC Outdoor Championships at Buffalo's UB Stadium.
The three-day meet begins at 10 a.m. Thursday with the women's hammer throw and the decathlon. The heptathlon gets underway shortly thereafter, and the afternoon events list comprises the hammer throw, the javelin and the pole vault. Running events are scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. with the 1,500-meter run preliminaries.
Thursday's competition is scheduled to conclude with the 10,000-meter runs at 6:15 p.m. (women) and 7 p.m. (men).
The meet resumes at 10:30 a.m. on Friday and is slated to ended at approximately 4:15 p.m. On Saturday, action gets underway at 11 a.m. and will conclude with the 4x400-meter relays beginning at 4 p.m.
Akron is the defending team champion in both genders.
Eleven CMU athletes are seeded among the top three in their respective events, including Gabrielle Beauvais, Shane Moffo and Logan Targgart.
Beauvais is seeded No. 1 in the women's 400-meter dash with a clocking of 53.80 seconds; Moffo is the top seed in the men's 110-meter hurdles (14.08), and Targgart goes in No. 1 in the men's hammer throw (64.64 meters).
CMU's Erin Howard is among the top three seeds in two events, the women's shot put (second) and the women's discus (third).
The Chippewas' Nadia Williams is seeded second in the women's long jump, while Luke Anderson is the No. 2 seed in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase.
The Chippewas who are seeded third are Marissa Dunn, women's hammer throw; Megan McElroy, women's javelin; and Logan Kleam, men's 10,000-meter run. CMU is also seeded third in the men's 4x400-meter relay.
