Pelafas Earns Weekly MAC Honor

Chippewa senior scored third-career hat trick on Sunday

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan's Lexi Pelafas was named the Mid-American Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.

Pelafas, a senior from Wheaton, Ill., had her program-record third career hat trick on Sunday in leading the Chippewas to a 4-1 home rout of Southern Utah.

Pelafas, who now has a CMU record 36 career goals, scored twice in the first half and then tallied her third goal early in the second half. She totaled 10 shots, eight of which were on goal. In Thursday's 3-1 loss to 14^th-ranked Notre Dame, Pelafas led the Chippewas in shots (4) and shots on goal (2).

It marks the third time in her career that Pelafas has been so honored by the MAC.

The Chippewas (1-1) play at Detroit Mercy in a nonconference game on Sunday, Aug. 26.
