Pelafas Earns Weekly MAC Honor

It marks the second time this season that CMU senior has been so honored
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan's Lexi Pelafas was named the Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week for women's soccer.
Pelafas, a senior from Wheaton, Ill. had a three-goal, two-assist weekend as the Chippewas posted a 5-0 victory after a 6-1 loss to Big Ten foe Michigan.
Pelafas had two goals and two assists in the home win over the Golden Grizzlies. She assisted on CMU's first two goals of the game as the Chippewas jumped to a 2-0 halftime lead. Pelafas put the finishing touches on the victory, scoring first in the 70th minute and then in the 89th.
Her goal in the 70th minute was a highlight-reel effort, coming on a blast from just outside the 18 with a defender closely marking her. The shot hit the underside of the crossbar and bounded in.
Senior forward Lexi Pelafas had a standout weekend for Central Michigan, headlining the Chippewas attack. In a loss at Big Ten foe Michigan on Friday, Pelafas got CMU on the scoreboard, netting her fourth goal of the season in the 70th minute. In a 5-0 home rout of Oakland on Sunday, Pelafas had one of her best games in the Maroon and Gold, tallying two goals and two assists.
On the final goal, Pelafas beat two defenders, received a long entry pass and beat the goalkeeper to the far post. Pelafas leads the MAC in points (14) and is tied for first in goals (6).
It marks the second time this season and the fourth time in her career that Pelafas has earned the league offensive player of the week award.
The Chippewas play host to Illinois-Chicago on Sunday (1 p.m.) on Senior Day.
