CMU Announces Zyzelewski Family AVP/AD Position

Position is in recognition of Ron and Jean Zyzelewski’s lifelong commitment to our student-athletes.
Central Michigan Athletics announced today the creation of the Zyzelewski Family Associate Vice President/Director of Athletics position in recognition of Ron and Jean Zyzelewski's lifelong commitment to our student-athletes.

Ron and Jean are joined in this recognition by their family: CMU alums Kelly and Mike Chamberlain with children Cole, Quinn, Drake and Sloane, and Mark and Nancy Zyzelewski with children Allison and Mitchell.

The Zyzelewski's made a $1 million gift to the Fire Up for Excellence Capital Campaign and have a strong history of giving to Chippewa Athletics. The recent gift was in support of the Chippewa Champions Alumni Center, a facility that will support all 485 CMU student-athletes and the university's advancement efforts. Â

"Ron and Jean have been some of our most loyal and dedicated supporters throughout the years and I am proud to be able to be associated with them," Zyzelewski Family Associate Vice President/Director of Athletics Michael Alford said. "This recognition is fitting as they have always taken pride in supporting all our student-athletes. They both bleed maroon and gold and I want to personally thank them for their lifelong commitment to Central Michigan Athletics and student success."

Ron and Jean have been season-ticket holders and members of the Chippewa Club since the 1970s. They currently are Chippewa Champions for eight different sports and are recognized at the Hall of Fame giving level of the Chippewa Club. The Zyzelewski family has attend hundreds of CMU athletic events over the years.Â

After serving in the Navy, Ron graduated from CMU in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science. He founded Quest Software in 1988 and sold the company this past spring.Â
