Bringard Earns MAC Scholar-Athlete Of The Week Award

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan's Marle Bringard has been named the Mid-American Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week.
Bringard, a senior midfielder from Midland, scored both goals in leading the CMU soccer team to a 2-0 start in the Mid-American Conference as the Chippewas remained unbeaten (5-0-2).
On Friday, Bringard headed in a goal just before halftime as CMU knocked off Ball State 1-0, handing the Cardinals their first loss in a MAC opener since 2011. On Sunday in Oxford, Ohio, Bringard saved the dramatics for double overtime, scoring in the 107th minute to give the Chippewas a 1-0 victory over Miami.
Bringard leads the Chippewas with three goals, all game winners, and seven points. She is a biology major who carries a 3.75 grade point average.
On Tuesday, Bringard was named the MAC Offensive Player of the Week.
The Scholar-Athlete of the Week Award is presented to a MAC student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the previous week's competition. The winners, one of each gender, are selected by a representative of the MAC's Faculty Athletics Representatives (FARs).
The Chippewas play host to Western Michigan on Friday, Oct. 4 (7 p.m.) and to Northern Illinois on Sunday, Oct. 6 (1 p.m.).
