Soccer Bolsters Roster with Big Ten Transfer

Midfielder Maddie West comes to CMU from Indiana
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Central Michigan soccer head coach Jeremy Groves has announced the signing of transfer Maddie West.
"We are very excited to add Maddie," said Groves. "One thing that stood out during the recruiting process is how mature Maddie is. She has a hunger to play and be successful here at CMU. Her experience having played at a high level is going to be huge for our team and program."
A midfielder, West comes to CMU from Indiana University. At IU, as a sophomore in 2018, she played in six games, earning her first collegiate point by assisting on a goal versus Kentucky. West earned Academic All-Big Ten honors last season.
At Crystal Lake Central High School, West led the Tigers to two conference championships. A two-time all-conference selection, she was named Northwest Herald All-Area Second Team in 2017.
Playing at the club level for the Naperville Soccer Association, West helped her team qualify for the Midwest Regional Premier 1 three times and led it to two championships at the Chicago Shootout and the SLSG. She was also a key part of title wins at the 2016 Disney Soccer Showcase and the 2014 CASL Showcase with NSA. In 2013, West won a State Cup and regional title and advanced to the national championships. A member of the Illinois ODP State Select Team from 2013-15, she led it to qualification for the 2014 national championships.
West will possess redshirt junior eligibility.
