Trio Joins Strength & Conditioning Staff

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan Athletics welcomes three additions to its strength and conditioning staff in assistant directors Alex Curtis, Michael Wade and Gabriel Miller.
Curtis served for the past two years at Valparaiso, where he started as the head football strength and conditioning and was then promoted to the associate director of sports performance.
Prior to his tenure at Valparaiso, Curtis served for more than two years as a strength and conditioning assistant with the football program at Western Kentucky. His resumé includes a stint with Ohio State as an administrative strength and conditioning coach in the football program and a graduate assistantship at Morehead State, where he worked in strength and conditioning with the football, baseball and softball programs.
Curtis completed a strength and conditioning internship with Army West Point and served as a student athletic trainer at Cincinnati, from which he earned a Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis on health promotion and education in 2015.
He holds a Master's degree in sport management from Morehead State and is working toward a Master's of Health Administration from Valparaiso. He is certified as a strength and conditioning coach by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association and is certified as a strength and conditioning specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Wade spent that past two years as a graduate assistant at Salibury (Md.) University, where he designed and implemented strength and conditioning programs for the Sea Gull baseball, volleyball and rookie football teams. He also served as a strength and conditioning coach for the football program.
Wade completed internships at Iowa, Towson and the Under Armour Performance Center. He served as a volunteer intern, working with 19 varsity sports, at Marymount, from which he earned a bachelor's degree with an emphasis on health sciences in 2019. He is working toward a Master's of Applied Healthy Physiology from Salisbury.
Wade is certified as USA Weightlifting level 1 sports performance coach, a strength and conditioning specialist, and in first aid/CPR/AED. He was a four-year member of the baseball team at Marymount and is a member of the university's 2010-20 All-Decade Team.
Miller most recently served as a strength and conditioning intern with the Michigan football program. Before that, he served in several capacities with the football program at Saginaw Valley State and as co-strength and conditioning coach with the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League.
Miller, a graduate of Dow High School in Midland, earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in exercise science and a minor in general business from Saginaw Valley. He was a member of the Cardinal football team for four years.
