Taylor Earns Freshman Pitcher Of The Year Award

Chippewa right-hander earns All-America, District Player of the Year honors
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan's Andrew Taylor was named on Wednesday as the Freshman Pitcher of the Year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
Taylor, who hails from Alto, was also named to the organization's Freshman All-America Team and was honored as its District 5 Player of the Year.
Taylor finished 11-4 with a 1.81 earned run average in leading the Chippewas to the Mid-American Conference championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
In 94 1/3 innings, Taylor posted a program-record 125 strikeouts while allowing 64 hits and walking 24. He surrendered just 19 earned runs and recorded five complete games.
Taylor's 11 victories rank as the third most for a single season in program history.
Last week, Taylor was named the Co-National Freshman Pitcher of the Year by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and was also named to the publication's Freshman All-America Team. On June 3, Taylor was named to Collegiate Baseball's All-America Second Team.
Taylor was also named First Team All-MAC, the MAC Pitcher of the Year, and the MAC Freshman Pitcher of the Year.
