MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Central Michigan's Brianna Hart and Bernhard Raimann have been named Mid-American Conference Medal of Excellence Award winners.
Hart, a two-time all-conference lacrosse player and Raimann, a member of the football team, are two of 24 student-athletes -- two from each full-time member institution -- to receive the league honor.
Hart, a senior defender from South Bend, Ind., set several individual season-highs and lead the conference's No. 2-ranked defense in 2021, earning First Team All-MAC recognition. She departs CMU ranked No. 2 in program history in ground balls and caused turnovers. Hart is a four-time academic all-conference honoree who carries a 3.57 grade point average. She earned an MBA with an emphasis in Business Data Analytics from Central Michigan and has secured a position as a financial analyst for Lockheed Martin in Washington, D.C.
While at CMU, Hart served as the Social and Community Outreach Chair for the pre-law fraternity, Phi Alpha Delta, for a year-and-a-half and was the Legal Clinic Director for Student Government for two years. Hart also served as the Athlete Liaison for the Student Government Association and the Student-Athlete Advisory Council. Hart also volunteered at the Isabella Community Soup Kitchen during her time on campus.
Raimann, an offensive linemen from Steinbrunn, Austria, started all six of the Chippewas' 2020 games at tackle after moving from tight end.
