Four Central Michigan Athletics teams are scheduled to be in action this weekend, beginning on Thursday night with the soccer team traveling to IUPUI.

VOLLEYBALL
The Chippewa volleyball team is set to travel to Ohio for the Flyer-Raider Invitational, co-hosted by Dayton and Wright State, in Dayton.

The Chippewas open the four-team event against Wright State at noon on Friday, and then is set to play Illinois State at 6 p.m. on Friday. CMU is set to close the tournament against Dayton at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

The Chippewas (4-2) won their own invitational last weekend, going 3-0 against North Dakota, Butler and Youngstown State.

Three Chippewas earned weekly honors from the Mid-American Conference on Monday for their respective performances in the Chippewa Invitational. Tournament Most Valuable Player Savannah Thompson was named the MAC West Offensive Player of the Week, while CMU's Grace Butler and Kamryn Olson shared the MAC West Setter of the Week Award.

Wright State is 4-2 and coming off a weekend in which it finished 2-1 at the Tru by Hilton Dayton Beavercreek Invitational in Dayton. The Flyers are 2-3 after back-to-back losses last weekend at No. 2 Wisconsin. Illinois State (2-4) finished 2-1 at its own Red & White Invitational last weekend.

FIELD HOCKEY
The CMU Field Hockey program heads out on the road for the first time this season with games at Dartmouth and Merrimack this weekend.

Central Michigan travels to Dartmouth on Friday, Sept. 10, for a 3 p.m. match. Dartmouth stands at 1-2 after a three-game road trip to California last weekend. The Big Green picked up a 2-1 shootout victory at UC Davis and then fell at Cal, 1-0, and at Stanford, 4-1.

The match at Merrimack is set for Sunday, Sept. 12, at noon. The Warriors are 0-4 after a 2-1 loss at Brown on Sunday.

CMU (0-3) is scheduled to play its next four games on the road.

Rachel Ruttenberg leads the Chippewas with two goals, while Kate Biglin has a team-high three assists. Goalkeeper Katie Maxim is averaging 9.0 saves per match.

SOCCER
Central Michigan (1-3) will begin a three-game road swing on Thursday, Sept. 9 when it visits IUPUI (1-3-1) for a 6 p.m. nonconference contest at Michael A. Carroll Stadium in Indianapolis. Â

CMU is coming off a 1-0 victory over Morehead State. Redshirt freshman forward Gaelle Wells scored the game-winner, her first goal in the maroon and gold. She became the fourth CMU player to score this season.

Sophomore goalkeeper Allison LaPoint recorded three saves in notching her first shutout of the year.

IUPUI earned a 1-1 tie with Dayton in its last outing. Senior midfielder Elizabeth Bueckers is the Jaguars' top offensive weapon, scoring five of their eight goals this fall. Senior goalkeeper AP Woodall holds a 2.10 goals against average. IUPUI has played one other MAC opponent, dropping a 4-0 decision to Western Michigan on Aug. 29.

Central Michigan will continue its road trip on Sunday, Sept. 12, when it meets Eastern Illinois (2-3-1) at 1 p.m. ET at the Panthers' Lakeside Field in Charleston, Ill.
