WBB Falls At Ball State

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State used a 13-4 run in the third quarter on Saturday in handing Central Michigan a 57-45 loss in a Mid-American Conference women's basketball game at Worthen Arena.
The Chippewas dropped to 3-14, 1-7 MAC. Ball State improved to 10-7, 3-4. CMU is scheduled to play host to Miami (Ohio) on Wednesday, Jan. 26 (7 p.m.) at McGuirk Arena.
The RedHawks are 6-8, 2-3 after a 63-54 home loss to Western Michigan on Saturday. They are scheduled to play at Ball State on Monday, Jan. 24.
Ball State shot 37.3 percent from the floor and held the Chippewas to 26.2 percent. CMU made 11 shots behind the 3-point arc out of 36 attempts while Ball State hit nine for 27 triple tries. The Chippewas were outrebounded, 47-38, and outscored 24-8 in the paint.
CMU trailed by as many as 12 points in the first half and then drew to within one, 32-31, with under seven minutes remaining in the third quarter. Ball State outscored the Chippewas, 13-4, to close the third quarter for a 45-35 lead. The Cardinals scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter to extend their lead to a game-high 17, 52-35, and CMU never got closer than 12 points after that.
Molly Davis led the Chippewas with 17 points, making four of nine from 3-point range, and a season-high nine rebounds. Tiana Timpe hit four of 10 triple tries to finish with 12 points.
