Resurrected CMU Men's Golf Team Completes Fall Portion Of Schedule

GLADEWATER, Texas – Central Michigan's Arie Jackman closed with a 6-over par 78 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 34th place at the Tempest Collegiate at Tempest Golf Club.
It was the final fall event of the 2022-23 season for CMU, which is in its first year as a varsity program after a 37-year hiatus.
Jackman, a junior and a transfer from Grand Rapids Community College, is the lone non-freshman on the Chippewa roster.
CMU shot 307 on Tuesday during the final round of the 54-hole event to finish with a 925 total and in 11th place in the 11-team event.
Jackman played the tournament as an individual and his score did not count toward the team total.
Orlando Coons posted the best round among CMU players on Tuesday, an even-par 72 to finish with a 232 total and in a tie for 48th. CMU's Jeffrey Andrus finished tied for 45th after a final-round 76 gave him a 231 total.
Also for the Chippewas on Tuesday, Nicholas Kilgore shot 78, Philippe Yturralde shot 81, and Ethan Jaehn shot 82.
Yturralde finished tied for 50th at 233, Kilgore finished 55th at 236 and Jaehn finished 56th at 237.
Texas State posted a 281 team total on Tuesday to finish at 857 and claim a four-shot victory over South Alabama.
Tom Karlsen of Texas State shot a 6-under 66 on Tuesday to finish at 5-under 211 and win the tournament.
