Soccer Drops MAC Game At NIU

DEKALB, Ill. – The Central Michigan soccer team suffered its third Mid-American Conference loss of the season on Sunday, falling 2-0 to Northern Illinois at the NIU Soccer and Track & Field Complex.
Huskies midfielder Claudia Muessig scored in the 29th minute and later assisted on Jamie Ward's goal in the 49thminute.
Junior defender Matilda Melin led with three of CMU's five shots on goal. Elizabeth Chlystun and Maggie Basse finished with one apiece.
NIU completed six shots on goal and led, 6-3, in corner kicks.
Freshman Emma Shingler went the distance for the Chippewas in goal and finished with six saves.
CMU (1-8-2, 0-3-1 MAC) is scheduled to play at Western Michigan on Thursday, Oct. 6 (4 p.m.). The Broncos are 2-4-4, 2-0-1 after tying 1-1, with Buffalo on Sunday.
