Soccer Falls In Season Finale

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan soccer team fell on Thursday in its season finale to Ball State, 2-1, at the CMU Soccer/Lacrosse Complex.
The Chippewas close the season at 2-11-5 overall and 1-6-4 in the Mid-American Conference. The Cardinals, who clinched the No. 2 seed in the MAC Tournament, are 7-4-7, 6-1-4.
Senior midfielder Maggie Basse completed her college career with the Chippewas' final goal of the season in the 89th minute, unassisted. It was her second of the season and of her career.
Ball State's Lexi Fraley scored in the fifth minute while Delaney Caldwell gave the Cardinals the 2-0 lead in the 52nd minute.
The Chippewas trailed, 12-5, in shots on goal and 2-1 in corner kicks.
Junior forward Elizabeth Chlystun led CMU with two shots on goal and Basse, Melissa Kubin and Ashley Scesniak tallied one each.
Freshman Emma Shingler went the distance in goal for CMU and recorded nine saves. She appeared in 16 games to finish the season with 94 saves.
