Emanuel is the MAC West Division Offensive Player of the Week, while Incoom earns MAC West Division Defensive Player of the Week honors.
CLEVELAND, Ohio—Central Michigan freshman quarterback Bert Emanuel Jr. and senior defensive lineman Thomas Incoom both earned Mid-American Conference Football Weekly honors, the league office announced Monday morning. Emanuel was the MAC West Division's Offensive Player of the Week, while Incoom garnered MAC West Division Defensive Player of the Week honors following Central Michigan's 31-27 come-from-behind win over first-place Buffalo.
Last Wednesday, Emanuel Jr. rushed for 293 yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries for a 12.2 yards per carry average. The 293 yards rank as the fourth most rushing yards in a single game in school history and set a school-record for most single-game rushing yards by a quarterback. The last time a Chippewa player rushed for 200 or more yards was Lew Nichols (219 yards) at Ball State on Nov. 17, 2021. Emanuel scored on touchdown runs of 75, 87, and the game-winning touchdown, a 1-yard run with 7:29 to play. The last time a player scored three touchdowns in a game was Lew Nichols at Ball State on Nov. 17, 2021.
Emanuel became the first player in college football this year to notch two runs of 75 yards or more. He registered the longest run of his career, a 75-yard touchdown run up the middle on the first play of the second half, then he backed that up with an 87-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter. The scores marked Emanuel's first and second career touchdown runs and were both Central Michigan's longest runs and offensive plays of the year.
Incoom made a career-high 13 tackles (10 solo) against Buffalo. He notched 1.0 sack and 3.0 tackles for loss with a quarterback hurry and now has 9.5 sacks and 16.5 tackles for loss on the year. He enters the week ranked No. 3 nationally in sacks and No. 6 nationally in tackles for loss.
Central Michigan (4-6, 3-3 MAC) will host Western Michigan (3-7, 2-4 MAC) on Wednesday night at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. Kickoff is at 8 p.m. ET for a nationally televised game on ESPNU.
