WBB Falls At Western Michigan

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan utilized a 23-12 first quarter on Saturday in defeating Central Michigan, 68-49, in a Mid-American Conference women's basketball game at the Broncos' University Arena.
CMU (4-23, 2-16 MAC) has two games left in the season. The Chippewas are to play host to Ball State on Wednesday, March 2 (7 p.m.) at McGuirk Arena. The Cardinals are 16-11, 8-8 after falling at home to Northern Illinois, 77-72, on Saturday.
The Broncos never trailed and made 12 of their 27 3-point attempts (44.4 percent) while CMU made just two of their 13 triple tries.
The Chippewas trailed, 40-25, at halftime and got no closer than 14 points in the second half.
Jahari Smith led CMU with 16 points and 11 rebounds for her 11th double-double of the season. Twelve of Smith's points and seven rebounds came in the second half. The MAC's leader in field goal percentage, Smith finished 7-for-10 from the floor.
Anika Weekes added 10 points and nine rebounds for the Chippewas. Weekes hit both of CMU's 3-pointers, while Lisa Tesson added eight points.
