DEKALB, Ill. – Northern Illinois used a 9-0 third quarter run on Saturday in defeating Central Michigan, 69-49, at the Huskies' Convocation Center.

It was the season finale for the Chippewas, who finished 4-25, 2-18 in the Mid-American Conference. NIU is 14-14, 11-9.

Despite leading just once at 2-1, the Chippewas worked to keep the score close through two quarters and entered halftime down 19-16. The Huskies outscored CMU, 23-12, in the third quarter, and the Chippewas never got closer than 10 the rest of the way.

The Huskies made 39.7 percent of their field goal attempts while holding the Chippewas to 27.6. NIU outrebounded CMU, 53-30, and hit 10 shots from 3-point range to the Chippewas' five.

Freshman guard Hanna Knoll scored a career-high 23 points to lead the Chippewas. She hit four of CMU's 3-pointers.

Karrington Gordon finished with 10 points and five rebounds. Anika Weekes, the only non-freshman to play for CMU on Saturday, led the Chippewas with eight rebounds.
