Field Hockey Goes To Michigan State For Season-Opening Weekend

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Jennifer Johnstone era of Central Michigan field hockey is scheduled to get underway on Aug. 26 when the Chippewas open the 2022 season with a nonleague game against Saint Louis.
Johnstone, named to head the program in February, will then put her Chippewas on the field on Aug. 28 against American. Both the Saint Louis and American games are scheduled for Michigan State's Ralph Young Field.
The Chippewas' home and Mid-American Conference opener is slated for Sept. 16 against Bellarmine. CMU is also set to play MAC rivals Ball State, Miami (Ohio) and Longwood at home, and is slated to play at Appalachian State, Kent State and Ohio.
The Chippewas are slated to go to Michigan for a nonconference weekend when they play Ohio on Sept. 2 and the Wolverines on Sept. 4. The following weekend, Sept. 9 and Sept. 11, the Chippewas travel to Pennsylvania to take on Bucknell and then Lock Haven.
After the home opener against Bellarmine, the Chippewas hit the road the following weekend for a game in North Carolina, against Appalachian State, and a game in Virginia, against William & Mary.
The Chippewas are slated to close the season with three consecutive home games, the fist on Oct. 19 against Michigan State followed by games with Miami (Ohio) (Oct. 21) and Longwood (Oct. 29).
