Preview: This Week in CMU Athletics (Jan. 16-22)

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—Five Central Michigan winter athletics teams are in action this week as both Gymnastics and Track & Field host their first competitions of the year, wrestling is on the road for four matchups, women's basketball is on the road for two games, and men's basketball has a Tuesday home game and Saturday road contest.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
The Chippewas host Akron on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at McGuirk Arena, then travel to Ohio for a Saturday road contest at 2 p.m. in Athens. Central Michigan enters its week following Saturday's dramatic 87-78 overtime victory over Buffalo.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Central Michigan hits the road for two games this week. The Chippewas will travel to Akron for a Wednesday night game at 7 p.m., then play at Ball State on Saturday at 1 p.m.

GYMNASTICS
Gymnastics will host the first of three meets on Saturday at 2 p.m. when Northern Illinois comes to town. The Chippewas opened their season on Sunday with a second-place finish at the New Hampshire Tri-Meet.

WRESTLING
Wrestling has four matchups in North Carolina this week. It will take on Duke on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Durham, N.C., then travels to Buies Creek, N.C. for three matches on Sunday as part of the Chippewa Challenge. The three head-to-head duals are against American, CSU Bakersfield, and Campbell. The Chippewas have won two consecutive head-to-head matches.

TRACK & FIELD
Central Michigan Track & Field hosts its first and only indoor meet on Saturday with the Jack Skoog Open. The event begins at noon at Jack Skoog Indoor Track. CMU will honor its senior class prior to the first race.
