Jaehn Leads CMU Men in Opening Round at Desert Mountain

SCOTTSDALE, Airz. – Ethan Jaehn shot a 1-over par 73 on Saturday to lead the Central Michigan men's golf team during the first round of the Desert Mountain Collegiate on the Outlaw Course at Desert Mountain Golf Club.
Saturday's second round was suspended due to darkness with all of the Chippewas still on the course. It is scheduled to resume at 10 a.m. (ET) on Sunday. The third and final round will follow.
Jaehn was 2-over through 12 holes on his second round and is 3-over for the tournament and tied for 24th in the 93-player field.
The Chippewas posted a 306 team total in the first round and were in 16th place in the 16-team field. They trailed 15th-place DePaul by three shots.
Mississippi State, which is ranked 22nd, led the tournament after a first-round 283, five shots ahead of Santa Clara and Lipscomb.
Also for the Chippewas in the first round, Philippe Yturralde shot 77, and Orlando Coons and Jeffrey Andrus both shot 78.
Ruan Pretorius of Mississippi State and Michigan's Ben Hoagland both shot a 4-under 68 and shared the first-round lead.
