
Women’s Basketball to Host Louisiana for MAC-SBC Challenge Feb. 10

Chippewas, Ragin’ Cajuns will meet for first time; Louisiana fell, 64-55, to Kent State in previous MAC-SBC game
CLEVELAND — Central Michigan Women's Basketball will host Louisiana for the home portion of the 2023-24 Mid-American Conference-Sun Belt Conference Challenge Feb. 10 at 1 p.m. ET.
The MAC-SBC Challenge—a scheduling alliance in the sports of women's and men's basketball—began during the opening week of the 2023-24 season in November with 12 Mid-American Conference (MAC) women's basketball programs visiting 12 Sun Belt Conference (SBC) teams. The Chippewas fell, 77-55, at South Alabama (Nov. 9), the Ragin' Cajuns fell, 64-55, to Kent State (Nov. 12).
Central Michigan will meet Louisiana for the first time in program history, with a combined 7-6 record against current members of the Sun Belt. The Chippewas have 1-0 marks against Coastal Carolina (12/3/10), Georgia State (12/20/89) and Troy (12/17/05), a 4-5 record against Marshall—formerly a member of the MAC—to go with November's result at South Alabama.
The contest will also be the program's Alumni Game and Girl Power Game, featuring recognition of CMU Women's Basketball graduates and promoting women's empowerment.
Scheduling assistance for the MAC-SBC Challenge is provided by Ordinal Sports Group. In addition to relevant NET data, geography and frequency of past contests are considered in determining the matchups. Each MAC-SBC Challenge game will be carried on an ESPN platform, with the CMU-Louisiana contest featured on ESPN+.
