Zanatta Holds 1-Shot Lead Heading into Final Round

PORT CLINTON, Ohio – Ella Zanatta shot an even-par 72 and followed with a 3-over 75 on Monday for a 147 total and the lead after Day 1 of the Toledo Rocket Classic at Catawba Island Club.

Zanatta, a freshman, is vying for her second first-place finish in just her third collegiate tournament. She tied for first at the season-opening A-Ga-Ming Invitational.

She holds a one-shot lead over three players – Ohio's Mackenzie McRee, Toledo's Valeria Lizcano Ojedo, and Green Bay's Ellie Frisch – heading into Tuesday's final round.

Zanatta led the Chippewas to a 611 team total (303-308) and a tie for third with Ohio and Purdue Fort Wayne in the 10-team field. Toledo (297-304 – 601) leads the field; Akron is four shots back.

Also for CMU, Hailey Katona shot 77-74 – 151 and is tied for 12; Rachel Niskanen is tied for 14^th after shooting 74-78 – 152; Brooke Morris (80-83 – 163) is tied for 40^th; and Lauren Davis (86-81 – 167) is tied for 48^th. CMU's Lexi Schulman, playing as an individual, is tied for 32^nd after shooting 85-75 – 160.
