Amaker Earns Weekly MAC Award

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Central Michigan's Chandler Amaker was named the Mid-American Conference Co-Wrestler of the Week on Tuesday.

A redshirt junior from Moncks Corner, S.C., Amaker went 3-0 to capture the 165-pound weight class at the Keystone Classic, an eight-team tournament hosted by the University of Pennsylvania, on Sunday.

Amaker defeated Jackson Spires of Virginia Tech, 5-3, in the title match. He opened with a 6-0 win over Kylan Montgomery of Virginia Tech and then posted a 5-2 sudden victory over Lock Haven's Caden Dobbins in a semifinal match.

Amaker, a backup at the beginning of the season who has moved into the lineup due to an injury, was the lone Chippewa to win his weight class in the tournament. He improved to 7-3 on the season.

CMU goes to No. 22 Oklahoma on Friday, Dec. 6 and to No. 20 Little Rock on Sunday, Dec. 8.
