Paupore, Men's & Women's Cross Country Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

Emily Paupore named to the All-Academic Women's Cross Country Team for 2023 season
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Emily Paupore and the Men's and Women's Cross Country programs have been honored as All-Academic by the United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the organization announced on Thursday.
Paupore, a redshirt junior from Negaunee, had a lights-out cross country season in 2023, where she set Central Michigan's 5k record, became a Mid-American Conference Champion and an NCAA All-Region honoree, all while maintaining a 3.95 cumulative grade-point average in her studies in Elementary Education.
The Chippewa Cross Country teams each named nine Academic All-MAC honorees for the 2023 season. The CMU women posted a 3.62 semester GPA in Fall 2023 and had eight student-athletes with a 4.0 grade-point average. The CMU men maintained a 3.33 semester GPA in Fall 2023 and had four student-athletes with a 4.0 grade-point average.
In order for a team to qualify for All-Academic honors, teams must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA, including the most recent grading period. In order for an individual athlete to attain All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 including the most recent grading period and have finished within the top 25 at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships.
