Football to Begin Spring Practice on Wednesday

Chippewas will practice 15 times between March 20 and April 15; First spring practice is scheduled for Wednesday, March 20.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—The Central Michigan Football program will begin spring practice on Wednesday at the Indoor Athletic Center Turf Bay. This spring, the Chippewas will practice a total of 15 times and host two scrimmages between Wednesday, March 20and Monday, April 15.
A total of 97 players will begin spring practice, including 18 newcomers. Central Michigan returns a total of 17 starters (eight on offense and nine on defense) and a host of players who saw extensive action during the 2024 season. As a whole, CMU returns 79 players from its 2023 roster and four players who earned coaches' All-MAC honors in 2023 including offensive lineman Brayden Swartout, running back Marion Lukes, wide receiver Jesse Prewitt III, and defensive back Donte Kent.
Other players returning who saw extensive action and started games in 2023 include: offensive linemen Davis Heinzen and Dominic Serapiglia III, running back Myles Bailey, wide receivers Chris Parker, Tyson Davis, and Stephan Bracey, Jr., defensive linemen Jason Williams and Michael Heldman, linebackers Justin Whiteside, Dakota Cochran, and Jordan Kwiatkowski, and defensive backs Caleb Spann, Elijah Rikard, and Da'Raun McKinney. A variety of other players also made major contributions.

CMU opens its 2024 football season at home on Thursday, August 29 against Central Connecticut State. The Chippewas will play six home games, including four before mid-October.
